Fame or integrity: which is more important?
Money or happiness: which is more valuable?
Success of failure: which is more destructive?
If you look to others for fulfillment,
you will never truly be fulfilled.
If your happiness depends on money,
you will never be happy with yourself.
Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.
Tao Te Ching v44
I feel the presence of Spirit as I soak in the sublime.
Some moments in life are beyond beautiful—they are sublime. German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer said we experience the sublime best when we become aware of our oneness with Nature. Looking carefully at the world around me, I find the sublime.
I begin by noticing colors and shapes pleasing to my eye. When a flower catches my attention, I take a moment to stop and look more carefully. I notice delicate lines, sprinkles of gold dust, and flecks of white. Spiraling, velvety petal folds lead my gaze toward the inside. The flower’s outer boundaries expand and I feel the presence of Spirit. This presence permeates the flower—and me. I experience the sublime Oneness I share with all life.
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.—Song of Solomon 2:12
A happy outcome to all things is sure.
God’s promises make no exceptions. And He guarantees that only joy can be the final outcome found for everything. Yet it is up to us when this is reached; how long we let an alien will appear to be opposing His. And while we think this will is real, we will not find the end He has appointed as the outcome of all problems we perceive, all trials we see, and every situation that we meet. Yet is the ending certain. For God’s Will is done in earth and Heaven. We will seek and we will find according to His Will, which guarantees that our will is done.
We thank You, Father, for Your guarantee of only happy outcomes in the end. Help us not interfere, and so delay the happy endings You have promised us for every problem that we can perceive; for every trial we think we still must meet.
