When the Master governs, the people
are hardly aware that he exists.
Next best is a leader who is loved.
Next, one who is feared.
The worst is one who is despised.
If you don’t trust the people,
you make them untrustworthy.
The Master doesn’t talk, he acts.
When his work is done,
the people say, “Amazing:
we did it, all by ourselves!”
Tao Te Ching v17
Pray for Others
I center myself in the healing power of prayer.
When I listen with my heart, I hear unspoken needs. A friend describes a challenge and I find an opening for empathy. A relative shares a health concern and I think of the many ways in which God heals. A storm ravages a community and I envision renewal unfolding. Whether I am listening to the news or talking with friends, I hear a call to prayer.
I center myself in the healing power of Spirit. Without focusing on a specific outcome, I call to mind any concerns I have for others. Friend or stranger, individual or nation, we are members of one Universe. I affirm: Spirit provides exactly what we need. Circumstances that seem challenging are resolved. We are whole. We are perfect. We are One.
Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and it was restored.—Matthew 12:13
I am surrounded by the Love of God.
Father, You stand before me and behind, beside me, in the place I see myself, and everywhere I go. You are in all the things I look upon, the sounds I hear, and every hand that reaches for my own. In You time disappears, and place becomes a meaningless belief. For what surrounds Your Son and keeps him safe is Love itself. There is no source but this, and nothing is that does not share its holiness; that stands beyond Your one creation, or without the Love which holds all things within itself. Father, Your Son is like Yourself. We come to You in Your Own Name today, to be at peace within Your everlasting Love.
My brothers, join with me in this today. This is salvation’s prayer. Must we not join in what will save the world, along with us?

. . . Bears No Resentment
It is natural for the lower self to resent pain and suffering; but when you can surrender to God, so that your heart overflows with love and acceptance of the wisdom of God’s plan, then you can make real progress, and you are filled with deep peace which beyond the power of the world to give.
