If you overesteem great men,
people become powerless.
If you overvalue possessions,
people begin to steal.
The Master leads
by emptying people’s minds
and filling their cores,
by weakening their ambition
and toughening their resolve.
He helps people lose everything
they know, everything they desire,
and creates confusion
in those who think that they know.
and everything will fall into place.
Tao Te Ching v3
I release the need to control and open to divine solutions.
Challenging situations can spur drama that diverts my attention. Anxiety, stress, and the need to have things my way may prevent me from thinking clearly. With such limited focus, I may lose sight of a bigger perspective. The tension in my body may restrict the flow of ideas to my brain and love to my heart.
In circumstances like these, I choose to lay my burden down. I take time apart for a relaxing activity and trust Inner Wisdom to guide my way. I let go of the need to impose my vision and allow the flow of ideas from Spirit. As creative solutions come to mind, I find a new way to approach a situation. When I release the need to control, Inner Wisdom reveals the right answers.
I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the harp.—Psalm 49:4
For those of you interested, today marks the beginning of another year, here on the Life Love God site, of going through the 365 lessons of the course as part of your daily devotional and spiritual study. Nothing I see in this room [on this street, from this window,
in this place] means anything.
Now look slowly around you, and practice applying this idea very specifically to whatever you see:
This table does not mean anything.
This chair does not mean anything.
This hand does not mean anything.
This foot does not mean anything.
This pen does not mean anything.
Then look farther away from your immediate area, and apply the idea to a wider range:
That door does not mean anything.
That body does not mean anything.
That lamp does not mean anything.
That sign does not mean anything.
That shadow does not mean anything.
Notice that these statements are not arranged in any order, and make no allowance for differences in the kinds of things to which they are applied. That is the purpose of the exercise. The statement should merely be applied to anything you see. As you practice the idea for the day, use it totally indiscriminately. Do not attempt to apply it to everything you see, for these exercises should not become ritualistic. Only be sure that nothing you see is specifically excluded. One thing is like another as far as the application of the idea is concerned.
Each of the first three lessons should not be done more than twice a day each, preferably morning and evening. Nor should they be attempted for more than a minute or so, unless that entails a sense of hurry. A comfortable sense of leisure is essential.

Love Is An Inward Beauty
To love is to give the Christ spirit within, without any thought of return. You are all so apt to feel that you must have return for your love, but the soul has to learn to give love. Love is an inward beauty that flows from the heart, from the life.
